I have dj contracts that prove how long I was working for. I also dj at my gym twice a month from 5-8pm on every first and last Wednesday of the month which are on these dates; 10/06/11, 10/27/10, 11/3/10, 11/24/10, 12/1/10, 1/5/11, 1/26/11.

Literal

a) I, Christine Robles, affirm that I completed my independent component, which represents 30 hours of work.

b) I completed 30 hours of work by djing, working with clients myself and being responsible for my job.

Interpretive

The work I do is not easy; I have to do everything on my own. If I get a booking I have to keep in touch with my client, meet with my client to go over the event, ask my clients to sign a contract and put a deposit. I also have to make sure my equipment is ready; I have to have the proper music for the occasion and get to the event early to set up then do a sound check. I usually have 1-2 gigs a week; I promote at my gym 2 times a month and get booked at least once on the weekends.

Applied

It helped me answer my EQ by seeing what it takes to become successful. For example, I have my own business cards and if someone contacts me for a booking I have to know how to communicate with people well.

Tell the class to create their own business cards.
Each person needs to create their dj name and put their information on it.
They will design the best way they think will catch people's attention.
I will ask for 2 volunteers to present their card and we will vote on which one we think we get the most success.

Go over why advertising is so important if you have a business and you want it to be a success.
